MYTHOLOGY

Myths are traditional stories that projects how people of a place or culture think. It depicts how the world began in different ways. Some may be unbelievable but indeed impressive. How can the early civilizations came up to these myth and stories? Myths explain how a certain phenomenon happens in a place since there was no science to explain why such happen.
We chose three myths to compare and contrast. These three myths are from the: Philippines, China, and Egypt. In these three myths, the first two Asian countries have myths where it involves a cracking or an opening of something. In the Philippines, Maganda and Malakas came out from a Bamboo which was opened up by Kite while in the Chinese myth Pan Gu, the God Pan Gu came out of an egg.
It is shown in Asian myths that these are Creation from Chaos types of myths. The creation myth of Egypt is a kind of Ex Nihilo which means, ”from nothing”. Ex Nihilo states the ideology of God creating the world from nothing. In the Egyptian context, Atum created himself and the later, the world. He created the world out of darkness in the middle of chaos. He created men, nature, and animals out of spit, vomit, and tears. These myths or stories of creation are very interesting.
